If you live near Silicon Valley or the San Francisco Bay Area, we welcome you to colocate your server with us.

We invite you to check out www.redwoodservers.com

We have increased all bandwidth limits by 500%! For example, $10/month customers used to get 20GB of transfer per month, now you get 100GB! Current customers are automatically upgraded to this new limit. Our bandwidth is continuously rated as some of the best in the industry. Check out our network map for more details or see what the limits are.

Current customers can use our debian mirror. Using the Redwood Virtual mirror does not count against your bandwidth consuption. Add these lines to your /etc/apt/sources.list file.

Debian mirror

The below lines should be the first lines in your sources.list file, even above http.us.debian.org.

For Stable:
deb http://mirrors.redwoodvirtual.com/debian/ stable main non-free contrib
deb-src http://mirrors.redwoodvirtual.com/debian/ stable main non-free contrib

For Testing:
deb http://mirrors.redwoodvirtual.com/debian/ testing main non-free contrib
deb-src http://mirrors.redwoodvirtual.com/debian/ testing main non-free contrib

For Sid (unstable):
deb http://mirrors.redwoodvirtual.com/debian/ sid main non-free contrib
deb-src http://mirrors.redwoodvirtual.com/debian/ sid main non-free contrib

Securty updates

The security update lines should go just above your security.debian.org lines.

For Woody:
deb http://mirrors.redwoodvirtual.com/debian-security/ stable/updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://mirrors.redwoodvirtual.com/debian-security/ stable/updates main contrib non-free

Using the Redwood Virtual debian mirror does not count against your bandwidth consuption.

Subject: DNS Configuration change

We regret to inform you that we've been instructed by our colocation facility to update the nameservers on all our machines. This unavoidably extends to all our customers as well. The new entries are:

    ns1.sjc.he.net 65.19.174.2
    ns1.fmt.he.net 65.19.175.2
    ns2.fmt.he.net 65.19.176.2

These entries need to go in your /etc/resolv.conf file. For example, a typical resolv.conf file will look like this:

    domain yourdomainhere.com
    nameserver 65.19.174.2
    nameserver 65.19.175.2
    nameserver 65.19.176.2

Please make these changes to your /etc/resolv.conf file by Thursday, February 19. No restart is necessary.

Here is a text file sample of the /etc/resolv.conf file: http://www.redwoodvirtual.com/resolv.conf
